Unsaturated Polyester-Based Polymer Concrete Containing Recycled Cathode Ray Tube Glass Aggregate

Polymer concrete (PC) is a composite construction material that boasts several advantages, such as lightness, low water permeability, high resistance to corrosive environments, and chemical degradation. Consequently, it has recently attracted interest an alternative the traditional ones for civil applications. In this study, unsaturated polyester resin was considered matrix phase of PC. Aimed produce green PC, commonly dispersed natural aggregate totally replaced by recycled glass (RGA) deriving from cathode ray tube (CRT) waste. Fine coarse fractions non-hazardous CRT were in different ratios. Chemical physical analyses carried out through XRF, particle size distribution microstructural analysis characterize RGA. The influence RGA percentage on PC performance investigated packing, resistance, absorption, mechanical analyses, bending, impact, scratch test. Using solely fraction led manufacturing with similar addition lower density. quality mainly depended crosslinking which, containing fine RGA, promoted adding 4 wt% silane coupling agent.
